Worm Poop = Money
How about this for a cool Venture:
Princeton Undergraduate Student + Worm Poop = Terracycle = Money.
Tom Szaky dropped out of Princeton to start Terracycle, a company that sells worm poop. It all started by using waste from the university's dining halls, which they developed into liquid fertilizer. The genius of the operation is all the waste is free and you have to worms doing the work.
Be the Banker
My family thought my little sister would be a banker. They way she hoarded money was both commendable and somewhat worrisome. However, paths easily diverge and she's now an obesity health educator and... a newly minted microfinancier? Huh?
Enter Kiva.org and c4-world.com, cool websites that connects developing world entrepreneurs with folks like my sister. Here's a blurb about Kiva from the esteemed New York Times:
RightRides
I recently heard about this cool organization, RightRides, based in NYC. It was started in 2004 as a response to assaults on women walking home by themselves late at night.
The founders believed that by offering a free ride home, the risk of sexual assault would decrease. They got a cell phone to use as a dispatch phone, printed flyers and started driving riders home. They were able to get others to volunteer to help operate the service.
