Vote for Box City Vigil in the Best Buy @15 grant!!!!
Hey everyone!
Please vote for the Box City Vigil for the Best Buy @15 grant challenge! We believe that we can make the largest impact if we were to receive the money. We are a group of 7 teen agers putting on an ANNUAL event to raise awareness for youth homelessness. Two years ago the participants of Box City (around 200 students) were invited to the MN House and Senate and we received standing ovations from the senators and representatives. At the end of that night the Runaway Youth Homeless Act was passed giving 1 million dollars in funding for homeless shelters. This year with budget cuts and the current economy, they are looking at taking away that funding. Last year we had over 220 participants last year stay overnight on the state capital front lawn and we hope this year is even more successful. We do a service project each year and this year we are putting together hygiene kits. If we were to receive this money, we could make a lot more hygiene kits for the youth homeless shelters.
