About Us
The World's 1st Trade-Association For 13-25 Year Old Business Exective's and Social Chang Markers.
As the youngest member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, I observed that their business and advocacy services didn’t apply to my demographic (young business owner). While I was brainstorming how organizations like NFIB began, I realized that aspiring and established youth entrepreneurs at the Youth Business Conference lack the support and educational resources to truly excel. Programs like Youth Business conference support youth-owned social venture start ups through seed funds and a manual; however they don’t provide the continued support that many youth start ups need.
Entrepreneurs drive America's economy, accounting for the majority of our nation's new job creation and innovations as stated on the Department of Labor’s website. In order to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs, they must receive the proper support and resources to excel. Data from a recent nationwide poll of nearly 1,500 Junior Achievement students, ages 13 – 18, indicated that 71% wanted to be self-employed at some point. In addition, research from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Entrepreneurship found that among children as young as 9 – 12, more than four out of every 10 (41%) would like to start their own business. The National Association of Youth-Owned Businesses (NAYOB) understands the needs and represents the unheard voice of youth businesses that are gaining momentum in key regions throughout the nation. In addition we have a youth in small towns or lack transportation access to get to a NAYOB event. Consequently, NAYOB actively works to encourage, support, and inform youth business owners using online technology as well as traditional means which will lead to active citizen participation, higher educational attainment, and sense of self-efficacy.
