About Us

Saving the Dreams of our nations young people!

Our History
Project Dream BIG was started in October 2006 by Hampton University students Dominique Steele and Steve Young. the Program became incorporated in July of 2007. The program was founded after Steele and Young realized that the students that they worked with in a neighborhood homeless shelter did not have the tutoring, mentoring or, any type of stable youth outreach program that they could participate in. Steele prayed about this issue to gain guidance on how to combat this issue and she was given Project Dream BIG. In the first year Project Dream BIG served over 200 students in either their weekly or outreach programs. The youth they served were all underprivileged. Within the first year the program was recognized by volunteer Hampton Roads (Volunteer program of the year) and the YMCA (Volunteers of the year). Within the first year of service project Dream BIG offered tutoring programs, musical expression programs, a Ball for students with special needs, Breakfast with Santa for homeless children and the young women's tea and young men's breakfast for Child domestic violence victims.
