Youth Venture’s Technical Allies Program supports young people as they start, lead, and sustain their Ventures. Technical Allies share their experience and knowledge with Youth Venturers who may need assistance in areas such as business planning, professional development, fundraising, or working with the media. They also provide guidance on issue areas, such as the environment, homelessness, mentoring, and HIV education.
Technical Allies can be lawyers, artists, business professionals, writers; as well as Venturers who have had success in their Venture and would like to share lessons learned with fellow Venturers. Any person who has an expertise and is willing to share what he/she knows can be a Technical Ally.
Below are two ways that you can take advantage of the Technical Ally Program:
Technical Ally Special Guest Workshops
The Special Guest Workshops are opportunities for Venturers to hear from practiced entrepreneurs and experienced Venturers about a given topic of interest. Venturers are also given the opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance about their work. Teleconference workshops are held twice monthly. Technical Ally E-Advisors
E-Advisors are individuals committed to responding to Venturers’ questions via email. Based on technical fields, Youth Venture staff will relay emails from Venturers to appropriate Allies who can answer their questions within forty-eight hours. Questions can be about anything from how to turn a Venture into a 501(c)(3) to how to contact local media officials. Venturers should direct emails to TechnicalAlly@youthventure.org.
