Below are some tips for filling out the Worksheet Format of the Action Plan.
1. What’s your Venture idea?
Consider dividing this question into three different sections.
- What community need does your Venture fill?
- How will you fill this community need? (What is your Venture idea?)
- Why did you and your team choose this idea?
2. What inspired your idea? (What are the reasons your team wants to create a Venture?)
This section explains why your Venture Team is passionate and invested in this topic. Here you will illustrate your reasons for starting a Venture. Think back to how you were first made aware of the problem your team is addressing. Perhaps you or someone you know is directly affected by this problem or maybe you saw something on the news or heard about the problem in class. This is a place to articulate why this issue is important to your team.
3. How will your Venture help the community?
Ask yourselves:
- “What problem are we trying to solve?”
- “What solution does our Venture Team provide to this problem?”
- “How does our Venture help make this problem better or more manageable?”
4. How will you determine if your Venture is successfully achieving its goals and helping the community?
Describe in detail what tools your Venture Team will use to measure the impact you’re making on the community. Tools could include creating surveys, conducting interviews, or researching public policy that has changed with regard to the problem your Venture team addresses. Anything that measures “changes” that have occurred as a result of your Venture Team’s efforts will help determine whether your Venture Team is achieving its goals.
