Youth Venture

We visit a local Assisted Living Center called The Isle at Ledgewood and plan actiities for the senior residents

Nursing House Party all started as a class project. Our history teacher, Mike Facques, encouraged us to make a difference in our community. We felt that senior residents at local Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Centers were not as happy as they could be and that the gap between the older generation and our generation was way to large. That's when we decided to create this Youth Venture. With the help of United Way, we have been able to organize many events for this Assisted Living Center. So far we hae painted pots, planting flowers, held a baking competition, painting pumpkins for halloween, had a magic show, and we created a talent show video of all the residents' talents.
Some things that keep us coming back and excited for our next event are the stories they tell us, ow excited they get for our events, and how much we have learned from all of our experiences. They look forward to our visits.
In the future, we hope to expand to visit more nursing homes (Harborside Nursing Home), gain volunteers, and potentially become a non-profit organization!
