Danielle Lerma's Fundraiser

I recently hosted a fundraiser for 9yr old, Danielle Lerma, diagnosed with HLH in Oct 2010. HLH (Hemophagocytic - Lymphohistiocytosis Disease) is very rare with 1 in 1 million people afflicted and only 5% survival rate. Danielle is a younger sister of a close friend of mine at school so it was an honor to help to raise money for her as she will need a bone marrow transplant as soon as she is stable and strong enough for the surgery and may need a liver as well. It was a fantastic event with so much support from our school and entire community!

I hosted & was one of the speakers for the Honors Luncheon for Living Advantage, Inc. to support past, present & future ways to invest in foster youth! Also, saluting the many individuals who have worked so hard to enhance the image & outcome of foster youth in Los Angeles! The event was @ the USC Pavilion! There were so many amazing testamonials from foster youth who have been helped by LIving Advantage, Inc so it was a wonderful experience for me and thankful that I have a mom and especially one who is so supportive in everything I do!!! I am truly blessed!

Alana's Achievers and Athletes for Education (AFE) hosted a private screening for "Tooth Fairy" this past Saturday for over 80 kids in Alana's Achievers & AFE's "reading for life" program and other AFE programs. The students were from Florence Griffith Joyner Microsociety Elementary, L.G. Rodriguez Elementary and Sunset Elementary. All three schools participate in AFE's mentorship programs; "Reading for Life" and the SG Squad Wellness Program so having the opportunity to reward the kids for all their work was very exciting.

For those of you who may have missed this video posting on Facebook, I wanted to share this clip (link is below) of the last visit of "Tra & Alana's Reading for Life" program from last July. The kids did not know Tra would be there so they were so surprised and happy to see him again! The students were given certificates from participating in their reading program and a book. There is an interview with Tra Battle, my partner, former SD Charger, at the end of the clip that I hope you will watch.

Last Saturday, I hosted my Youth Venture and Hasbro Playathon "in honor" of my 7yr old friend, Kourtney Najjar, awaiting her multi-organ transplant to save her life!!! The event was a great success and Kourtney had a blast! I am so happy that she was feeling good enough to come and enjoy herself! I will be posting some interviews soon from the event very soon. A friend from my old acting class came to do some interviews for us so thank you Kymia!!!

Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens

I had the opportunity to meet Ray Lewis, #52, of the Baltimore Ravens when they played the San Diego Chargers in September! The Ravens unfortunately beat the Chargers with Ray having the last play of the game stopping us to score! I wanted to talk to him about that after the game as I have several Charger friends who have AFE programs, too, (lol) but he is a super nice guy and very classy!

Foster Kids

I also was the celebrity Guest Host for the Living Advantage, Inc., fundraiser at Skateland in Northridge, CA (in the Los Angeles area) on Sept. 12th so it was a lot of fun and always happy to support this organization which provides virtual online network for at risk and foster youth. Living Advantage strives to create a safe and secure environment in which youth are able to store and maintain their vital life documents to ensure their continued education and their eventual successful independent living.
